Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute has received the funeral arrangements for Oğuz Erge, the taxi driver who was murdered in armed attack in Izmir by a customer he took in in order to protect him from the cold. Erge’s friends stated that ‘he was killed because of his goodwill’. Meanwhile, everyone was moved to hear that Erge had provided free transportation for earthquake victims who arrived in Izmir on February 6.

Turkey is deeply saddened by the loss of taxi driver Oğuz Erge (44), who was shot three times with a pistol by passenger Delil Aysal (19), whom he took into his car to provide shelter from the cold. The incident happened in Gaziemir district of Izmir. Oğuz Erge’s body was given back to his family by Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute, following the required processes. To beg for forgiveness, the body was first taken to his place of residence in Buca Göksu neighbourhood. Upon receiving his request for blessing from his beloved ones, a convoy of fellow taxi drivers followed his funeral to be buried in Nalbantlar, Söke, Aydın.

‘MURDERED BECAUSE of GOODWILL’

The owner of the car that the slain taxicab driver was driving, Murat Akbaba said,’I handed over the car at 3 a.m. That day, he was meant to be at work. I received a call at 4 a.m. telling me about the incident. It is a depressing picture. The car needed painting because it was damaged. ‘ Do not come; I will shut down the car’ Oğuz informed me. Come once you wake up. It was pure compassion that killed him. He was a really good man. He said, May God rest his soul.

‘HUMAN BEINGS WAS APPEARED and HE WAS DEAD’

Arslan Kocalar, a nearby resident, additionally mentioned Oğuz Erge. ‘He was a good neighbour along with a friend,’ Kocalar commented. He was a harmless, peaceful man. He had no bad affect on people; nonetheless, he was positive for all individuals. Besides his mother and brothers, he is situated here. He displayed compassion and got shot,’ he contiuned.

“EARTHQUAKE DETAIL AFFECTED PEOPLE”

It has been indicated that after the earthquake on February 6 that was centred in Kahramanmaraş, Oğuz Erge, who took a passenger to keep them from getting chilly and was shot three times, also gave free transportation to earthquake victims to Izmir. Everyone was moved by this particular detail.Oğuz Erge was buried in Aydın, Söke, his hometown, on February 2.
