The recent incidents involving the deaths of Indian students in the United States have raised significant concerns among students and their families. Here’s a brief overview of the incidents:

  1. Vivek Saini: Vivek Saini, a 25-year-old Indian student who recently completed his MBA in the US, was tragically attacked and killed by Julian Faulkner, a homeless drug addict. Saini’s act of kindness towards Faulkner, offering him food, water, and shelter, turned fatal when Saini asked Faulkner to leave the store where he worked, leading to the attack with a hammer.
  2. Neel Acharya: Neel Acharya, a computer science major at Purdue University, went missing on January 28, prompting a search effort. Tragically, his body was later discovered on the university campus. Neel’s mother, Goury Acharya, took to social media to seek assistance in locating her son. The circumstances surrounding Neel’s death remain unclear at this time.

These incidents highlight the vulnerability of international students living abroad and the need for increased awareness of safety measures and support systems. It is essential for universities and local authorities to prioritize the safety and well-being of all students, providing resources and assistance to address any concerns or emergencies that may arise.

The Indian government and diplomatic missions in the US are also closely monitoring the situation and providing support to the affected families. It is a challenging time for the Indian student community, and efforts must be made to ensure their safety and security while studying abroad.
