In a shocking turn of events, a Google software engineer, Liren Chen, finds himself at the center of a murder investigation following the tragic death of his wife, Xuanyi Yu, in their upscale Santa Clara home. The couple, both esteemed software engineers at Google, had purchased their residence for $2.05 million just last year. The incident unfolded on January 16 when an acquaintance, alarmed by the sight of Chen in a blood-stained state and exhibiting unusual behavior, dialed 911.
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement found Chen near his wife’s body with notable injuries, including a swollen and discolored right hand. Yu had sustained severe blunt force injuries to her head. Chen, aged 27, was charged with murder and is currently hospitalized, with his arraignment postponed to January 22.
