In a recent revelation, Ankita Lokhande, the leading actress of the much-anticipated biopic “Swatantra Veer Savarkar,” unveiled surprising remarks from co-star Randeep Hooda regarding her casting. Set to portray the role of Veer Savarkar’s wife, Yamunabai, Lokhande disclosed that Hooda expressed skepticism due to her appearance.
During an event, Lokhande recounted Hooda’s reservations, stating, “He told me, ‘I don’t think I want you in the film.’ I was like, why? He was like, ‘You are too pretty for the character (Yamunabai Savarkar).’ I was like, ‘Please don’t say that’.”
The revelation stirred controversy within the film fraternity, questioning the criteria for casting decisions and the importance of authenticity versus appearance. Hooda, who also directs and co-writes the film alongside Utkarsh Naithani, has yet to respond to the revelation.
