A Bengaluru-based AI start-up’s CEO was apprehended by Karnataka Police in Chitradurga on Monday while attempting to flee in a taxi after allegedly murdering her four-year-old son at a Goa hotel and concealing his body in a bag. Identified as Suchana Seth, aged 39, the CEO and her son had checked into a North Goa hotel in Sinquerim on January 6.
The crime came to light when hotel staff discovered bloodstains on the sheets while cleaning the room after Seth’s checkout, prompting the hotel management to alert the police.
Investigations revealed that Seth had purportedly used a sharp weapon to kill her son. Following the incident, she requested the hotel to arrange a taxi for her return trip to Bengaluru, expressing a preference for a road journey. Surveillance footage showed Seth leaving the hotel unaccompanied.
Initially, Seth claimed to have left her child with a relative in South Goa, but this account didn’t align with the evidence. Authorities contacted the taxi driver and urged him to report to the nearest police station. Subsequently, with the aid of Karnataka Police in Chitradurga district, Seth was apprehended while en route to Bengaluru, according to an officer at the Calangute Police station.
