After the initial call, Anjali got a Skype call from someone named Mr. Banerjee, claiming to be from Mumbai cyber police. He said her Aadhaar card was linked to a money laundering case, demanding ₹96,525 as a processing fee. The scam intensified, accusing bank officials and pressuring her to transfer ₹4,83,291 to a Punjab National Bank account to ‘close the case’ and avoid legal trouble.

Anjali Patil shared the scam with her landlord, realizing it was a well-planned cyber trick. She reported it to DN Nagar Police, who quickly registered a case and started looking into it.
