Mukhtar Ansari

The sudden demise of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari due to a cardiac arrest has stirred controversy and raised questions, leading to a magisterial probe ordered by the Uttar Pradesh government. Mukhtar Ansari was brought to the Rani Durgavati Medical College in Banda from the district jail in an unconscious state after complaining of vomiting. Despite efforts by a team of nine doctors, he succumbed to a cardiac arrest.

The post-mortem examination conducted by a panel of doctors negated any suspected poisoning and cited a heart attack as the cause of death. However, the opposition parties have raised concerns over Mukhtar Ansari’s death, with his family alleging “slow poisoning” during his time in Banda jail. The magisterial inquiry and subsequent post-mortem were conducted amid tight security measures across several districts in Uttar Pradesh.

The political landscape was further ignited when Alka Rai, the wife of slain BJP leader Krishnanand Rai, credited Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for delivering justice in her husband’s case, indirectly referring to Mukhtar Ansari’s alleged involvement in the murder. Union Minister Anurag Thakur took a dig at SP, BSP, and Congress, accusing them of protecting individuals like Ansari for political gains.

Debate and Tensions Surrounding Mukhtar Ansari’s Death

Meanwhile, Ghazipur district, Mukhtar Ansari’s native place, is on high alert, with the entire district administration closely monitoring the situation. The body of the five-time MLA was transported to Ghazipur with a heavy security convoy, and his last rites were scheduled to be performed the following morning.

In the aftermath of Ansari’s death, various reactions have surfaced, with some describing him as a “messiah for the poor” and others raising concerns over the state of law and order in Uttar Pradesh. As investigations continue and political tensions rise, the truth behind Mukhtar Ansari’s death remains a subject of intense debate and scrutiny.
